John Zorn was born in Los Angeles, and as a teenager played piano, guitar and flute.
Before releasing albums on several independent and Mediterranean labels, Zorn signed with the Elektra-Nonesuch label and attracted wide acclaim in 1988 with their interpretations of music composed by Ennio Morricone, the album [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] in 1990 and the first album by Naked City in 1990.
Early minor plays included much more "game pieces", in which performers are allowed to improvise while following certain structural rules.
